Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of July 9, 2026

ANDOVER — Zoning board approves three applications, defers ADU case. The board unanimously approved a Special Permit for replacement of the 160-foot communications tower at 68 Prospect Road, which will expand portable radio coverage from 44 percent to 93 percent of Essex County's geographic area and serve approximately 220 participating agencies as part of the state police interoperable communications system. Also approved unanimously: a 10-by-16-foot addition at 167 Lowell Street and reconstruction of a porch at 102 Burnham Road, both on historic properties requiring Historic Preservation Commission review.

The board continued a two-story ADU proposal at 85 Sunset Rock to August 6 after five neighbors raised concerns about privacy, drainage, and neighborhood character, scheduling a site walk for July 23.
