ANDOVER — Select Board endorses Chandler Road recreation project at Special Town Meeting. Chair Ellen Townson, Vice Chair Melissa Danisch, and members Alex Vispoli and Laura Gregory voted 4-1 to recommend approval of the $5 million mixed-use project featuring a turf field, walking trails, and playground, with member Kevin Coffey dissenting over chemical safety concerns. The Board also voted unanimously to disapprove a two-year moratorium on artificial turf fields and a contract requirements article, and voted 4-1 to disapprove an article granting discretionary 20-mph speed zone authority to the Board.
Town Manager Andrew Flanagan noted the project incorporates organic infill and product testing before installation.
