ANDOVER — Public Art Commission convenes for first meeting to establish priorities. Andrew Flanagan and Austin Simko welcomed eleven commission members at the February 9 inaugural session in the Select Board Conference Room. The board reviewed its five-part charge encompassing public art form and placement, grant funding applications, monetary awards, community engagement, and advocacy.
Members discussed potential partnerships with the Andover Cultural Council, Andover High School's National Art Honor Society, and community groups, while emphasizing smaller, achievable starter projects across different geographical areas of town. The commission will meet every three weeks on Monday afternoons at 3 PM, with officer elections scheduled for the March 2 meeting.
