ANDOVER — The Council on Aging Advisory Board approved nine designated free parking spaces for seniors and veterans across Andover municipal lots, ending a program review that drew support from town planning, facilities, and police. Chair Ralph Bledsoe oversaw the 8-1 vote May 14, with Judith Agnes the sole dissenter, favoring instead a sticker system like Lexington's. Director Jane Burns reported the spaces will operate on an honor system backed by security cameras at Memorial Hall Library, UBurger, Caffé Nero, Dominoes, Town Hall, and Old Town Hall.
Over 300 community surveys have been completed with responses due June 20, and three Council positions--two member seats and potentially the Chair--open for recruitment.
