Ballardvale Historic District Commission approves solar panels with painted conduit requirement

ANDOVER — Ballardvale Historic District Commission unanimously approves rooftop solar at 8 Clark Road with conduit-painting conditions. The Commission voted 7-0 to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the roof-mounted system on the condition that all electrical conduits and panels be painted to match adjacent siding and material, addressing member concerns about visual consistency with the neighborhood's historic character. The Commission also unanimously approved amendments to the Ballardvale Historic District Bylaw, Article XII Section 36, and voted to place the revised bylaw on the 2026 Annual Town Meeting warrant for voter approval.
Members plan to hold an education meeting in February or March to brief the public on the bylaw changes.
