Andover Notified of Wastewater Release From Lowell Treatment Plant

The town was notified that untreated or partially treated wastewater was released from the Lowell Wastewater Treatment Facility on Sunday, a discharge into the shared Merrimack River watershed that prompted a public notice posted to the town's website Monday morning.

TOWN HALL

The Town of Andover issued a Combined Sewer Overflow notice Monday after being informed of a release of untreated or partially treated wastewater at the Lowell Wastewater Treatment Facility on Sunday, Aug. 23. The notice, posted through the town's CivicAlerts system, is the kind of regional alert Andover has flagged before given its place along the Merrimack River, the same waterway where the town's Conservation Division and Department of Public Works worked earlier this month to clear derelict docks and debris.
